Over many years, the staff of YWAM Naga have committed themselves to serving the Azucena community - mainly focused on raising up the younger generation to be healthy and to know and love our Lord and savior.
Together, we can make these dreams into reality. Although we begin somewhere small, we wait in expectancy to one day see the Azucena community to grow into something bigger than we could ever imagine - just like the mustard seed. |
Saturday Kid's WorshipWhile the YWAM Naga staff visit Azucena Sunday through Friday to distribute the nutritional drinks, the children of Azucena come to the YWAM Naga base on Saturday mornings to spend time together with the staff and visiting students.
Starting off the morning with kids worship songs and dances, led by a time of teaching where the children can learn and talk about the stories of the bible. After they are finished the children wait to be handed their lunch provided and prepared by the Naga kitchen staff. |

Doing Saturday Kid's Worship we hope to encourages the children to not only form relationships with the Naga staff, but with one another - strengthening the community with a sense of familiarity, unity, hope, and peace. By inviting the Azucena children every Saturday to a family setting, we hope to rejuvenate them with food, prayer of blessing, laughter and joy.
Nutrients Drink
Malnutrition is a common case in the Philippines especially among communities that live on the borderline of poverty. Most prevalent among children, it is the consequence of taking in an insufficient amount of nutrients required for healthy bodily functions.
The children of Azucena are no exception; lack of money means lack of food, and lack of food leads to malnutrition. In most basic and elementary stages of malnutrition, children show higher levels of fatigue and irritation and loss of weight and appetite. Intermediate stages consist of slowed development especially in the immune system which causes an increase in infected wounds, and hair loss. Developed stages include bone or joint pain and weak muscles; sunken temples, bloated abdomen and swelling in other parts of the body also becomes apparent. In worst cases, it can be fatal.
However, with the nutrition feeding program - we can decrease the cases of malnutrition by improving their dietary management of moderate nutrition intake. No child should have to wake up every day to weakness, fatigue and pain - help them grow healthy and strong into adulthood.
With your help and partnership we can make a change in these children's health, one cup at a time.
